There is always a reason to everyone's madness, but those illegals who are coming here to make a better life for their families are more responsible and are actually trying to make a difference in their lives. They are taking a stand, and if school was free, i think everyone would have an education and would be able to be an economist or lawyer or something, but education is a business(which it should not) and there are ups and downs about having education in all instances.

I really like what you are saying and want you to know you have my support, the only think we should be weary about are those illegals who are here for drug traffiking. Whether or not they can get to the White House is another matter. The results of the election of 2010 should be cause for optimism, however. The current problems of the United States are indeed serious, but there are millions of people who understand the causes of these problems and have an idea of how to remedy the current situation.A recent government report has shown that the US has greater energy resources than any other nation, even Saudi Arabia, if these riches were just allowed to be exploited. I think that several of the GOP candidates have the knowledge, talent, and moral fiber needed to get things turned in the right direction again. The barriers to getting the debt under control, also, are not insurmountable. All that is required is commonsense and the political will to do something to halt wasteful spending. Anyone who has worked closely with the US government, as I have, knows that billions could be saved by eliminating redundant and useless programs, with no one harmed but the government employees involved.I am also optimistic that, although how and when the recovery-renaissance will occur is still unclear, the election of 2010 suggests that we are moving in the right direction.I had the opportunity to live through some very trying times, like Brazil in the 1980s and Indonesia in the late 1990s, when the future seemed very bleak indeed, only to find that somehow, people were able to muddle through and things worked out in the end.The US hasn't had any really rough times since the 1970s and a large part of the population is too young to have first hand experience with economic and political turbulence. This makes things seem much worse than they really are. Anyway, that's the way it seems to me.

I believe that there are many people who could do an adequate job as president of the US. When I consider what is occuring in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Middle East (not to mention our own economy) we badly should demand a strong leader. I'm not at all convinced that Barack Obama or any of the Republican candidates thus far have the experience or skills it takes to get the job done the way it has to be done. Being president of this country is an astonishingly difficult job. Do you think there is any man or woman out there with the experience, skill, and moral conviction to do the job?

I am greately concerned concerning the 2012 election. I'll try not to bump into you in a dark alley in Warsaw. By the way, how is it working out in Poland, now that Obama has removed that pesky missile shield. Feel safer?

Thanks, Dre, for the warning. I’ll try not to bump into you in a dark alley in Warsaw. It's always nice to have a comment from someone who can actually spell and express themselves cogently. As you can see from some comments (which I don't bother to correct), clarity of expression (if not forcefulness) is not always a strong point of those who exercise the right of free speech.

Thanks, James, for your comment. This has been the pattern of the Democratic Party since the days of Tammany Hall when the 'community organizers' of those days would meet immigrants on the docks to teach them how to vote Democratic. Where you see 'illegals', Obama sees 'voters'. That's what it's all about.Of course, as you point out so well in your writing, many in the US, legal and illegal, could learn to speak and write English just a little better.

Well, Nell, you’re quite right in that Obama just loves illegals, especially those who are poor and ignorant. Nor do I support breaking the law. However, when laws are not enforced for over a generation, it becomes politically difficult, even impossible to enforce them. For example, the US government made 'treaties' (the highest form of law) with Indian tribes in the 19th century. Just try to enforce them today. The 'illegal immigrant' problem was not caused by voters who were for or against the idea of immigration, but rather by government bureaucrats who never can be fired and who have looked the other way for over 20 years and have allowed millions to stream into the country.Enforcement has been so lax that I know of cases where illegals have come in by 747 jet and shipped their household goods by sea, going directly to US lawyers and starting the process of legalization. You can go to many posh hotels in South Florida and find illegals at every level of the staff, most having paid something to Immigration lawyers to legalize their status.By now, there are illegals in virtually every state and most towns and cities in the US, almost all are working at something useful (or they wouldn't be paid), and many, many have legal relatives or children. Simplistic 'solutions' are no longer available when laws go unenforced for many years.

Well, I’m not an illegal immigrant and the idea that all illegals come from Mexico is simply wrong.
